Manfred Nowak

Manfred Nowak is Co-Founder and Program Director of the Vienna Master of Arts in Applied Human Rights at the University of Applied Arts Vienna - the first Master Program worldwide that combines Human Rights and Art. He has extensive experience as a world-renowned professor of international law and human rights. He has held teaching positions at prestigious institutions including the University of Vienna, Stanford University, Utrecht University, Lund University, the Graduate Institute of Geneva, the University of Auckland, and the Washington College of Law.

Additionally, Manfred serves as the Secretary General of the Global Campus of Human Rights, an alliance of 100 universities worldwide dedicated to human rights education and advocacy. He is also a co-founder of one of Europe's largest human rights research institutes, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights. Manfred's involvement in the Human Rights Chamber for Bosnia and Herzegovina from March 1996 to December 2003 and his subsequent appointment as United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture from 2004 to 2010 underscore his commitment to advancing human rights globally.
