Piet Stinissen is a Professor of Immunology and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences at Hasselt University. His group studies the mechanisms involved in autoimmunity with a focus on multiple sclerosis. He is founding chairman of the MS-Network Limburg (now University MS Center UHasselt-Pelt) and chairman of the Limburg Clinical Research Center, a research collaboration between UHasselt and the teaching hospitals ZOL (Genk, B) and Jessa (Hasselt, B).
He is actively involved as board member and/or cofounder of several organisations that support life sciences and healthcare innovation: incubation center BioVille, Euregional platform Biomedica, Happy Aging living lab, LifeTechValley vzw, LISTEL, Hospilim, In4Care and Health Campus Diepenbeek.
