Documentary on artist Koen Vanmechelen selected for prestigious film festival in Montreal

Wild Gene - a documentary on Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen, has been selected for the official selection of the prestigious Festival International du Film sur l'Art (FIFA) in Montreal.

Director Joris Gijsen followed artist Koen Vanmechelen during six years – from Genk to Havana to Zimbabwe – to make the intriguing documentary Wild Gene. The film is not only a stunning psychological portrait of a controversial artist (famously known for cross-breeding chickens), but also an in-depth reflection on contemporary art.
The international première screening of ‘Wild Gene’ will take place on Saturday March 21, 10:00 am at the Canadian Centre for Architecture - Théâtre Paul-Desmarais in the presence of director Joris Gijsen and editor Max De Prins.
