Michel Maus

Michel holds a master's degree in law (1993), a special master's degree in tax law (1994) and a doctorate in law (2005), with a doctoral dissertation on the limits of tax control. In 2015 he co-founded the law firm Bloom. Michel specializes in tax law and fraud law. He handles cases on all facets of tax law and tax criminal law. Michel is also a professor at the law faculty of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He teaches 'Introduction to Tax Law', 'Personal Taxation', 'Registration and Inheritance Taxes', 'Tax Procedures' and 'Fiscal Criminal Law'.

Michel is the author of several publications in tax law, including his handbooks “The limits of tax control”, “Tax sanctions”, “Introduction to personal income tax”, “Tax Procedure” and “Fiscal Law. Basic concepts” and more than 100 journal articles on taxation. In addition, Michel also wrote three books on taxation, "Onterf de taxus", "Everyone does it. Tax evasion in Belgium." and  “Tax me if you can. How to legally avoid taxes.” Michel also regularly gives lectures on tax law seminars and is a much sought-after speaker and columnist for De Tijd, Trends, De Morgen and DeRedactie, among others. He is recommended as a tax expert in Belgium by Legal 500.
