Cosmogolem, Buitenbeenpop, Leopoldsburg (BE)

30 August 2019

Buitenbeenpop is an open-air festival adapted to the specific needs and wishes of people with a disability in the broadest sense of the word. On Friday 30 August, Buitenbeenpop, the open-air festival for people with disabilities, will celebrate its 20th anniversary! Flemish top artists, including Barbara Dex, Sergio and Willy Sommers will provide the musical ambiance, while actor Jelle Cleymans, who is the festival’s godfather, will bid all party-goers a hearty welcome and MC the entire event.

For this festive edition, the Cosmogolem by artist Koen Vanmechelen makes a special appearance. This large, wooden giant is an international symbol for human rights. Based on the artist’s plans, the statue itself will be built by students of Secundaire Scholen Sint-Ferdinand in Lummen.

The Cosmogolem will receive the audience and invite everyone to share their dreams and wishes with the statue itself.
