SOLD OUT Nocturne - WILD GENE

-

Nocturne

Experience LABIOMISTA in a magical way!

Would you like to kick off the new season at LABIOMISTA with us? Join us on April 5 for the Nocturne, raise a glass with us, and explore the park as night falls. Enjoy a musical ambiance in collaboration with B-Classic.

During the Nocturne – Wild Gene, you’ll have the unique opportunity to discover how, when we close our eyes, the secret life at LABIOMISTA awakens. On the border between the civilized world and the wilderness, the unseen becomes perceptible — as day turns into night, the (living) artworks reveal new perspectives.

Nocturne – Wild Gene sharpens all your senses, with a cosmopolitan toast in collaboration with the MOUTH Foundation and a once-in-a-lifetime performance led by B-Classic.

Especially for this evening, mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Levental, soul rapper Fred Gata, percussion wizard Bert Peyffers, and pianist Babette Rogiers join forces as the Wild Gene Collective — delivering a unique, one-time concert where genres dissolve and new sounds emerge.

Classical finesse collides with pulsing percussion,
poetry flows into improvisation,
electronics merge with acoustic intensity.

Don’t expect a set path, but an adventurous journey full of unexpected twists.
One evening where four musical universes converge in an ode to the wild gene.

Instead Of Sleeping

About Wild Gene Collective
A one-time performance
Directed by B-Classic
Featuring:

EKATERINA LEVENTAL
Ekaterina Levental is a singer, harpist, and theater maker. Born in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, she studied voice at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague and harp at the conservatories of Enschede, Detmold, and Rotterdam, graduating cum laude in both disciplines. She is active as an opera singer and theater performer, collaborating with various opera houses and music theater companies. In addition, she creates her own theater productions, blending her versatility and artistic voice.

FRED GATA
Fred Gata is a rapper, soul singer, and producer. As the winner of the latest edition of Sound Track for Flemish Brabant and artist-in-residence at Het Depot in Leuven, he is steadily building his musical journey. Alongside his solo work, he has collaborated with artists such as Vinci and Brosbros and was part of Fabrecollectiv. His work stems from a deep-rooted passion for art and community building, with love, solidarity, and knowledge-sharing as recurring themes. His creative expression also extends to photography and painting.

BERT PEYFFERS
Bert Peyffers, also known as Bert Skunk, is a percussionist and musical omnivore. At the age of 13, he discovered the cajón, an instrument that eventually took him to the semi-finals of Belgium’s Got Talent. As a freelance percussionist and studio musician, he effortlessly moves across genres and projects. He is the founder of the 12-member collective Wamaki’s and tours Europe with Ão and Vermin Twins. He is also a musician-in-residence at B-Classic, a member of the Elfurenmis house band, and hosts the monthly Laswerk sessions.

BABETTE ROGIERS
Babette Rogiers is a pianist and synthesist with a passion for experimentation and sound exploration. Initially starting on guitar, she soon found that the piano better matched her musical language. She is currently studying pop piano at KASK and performs in projects such as Arend Delabie, Home Bodies, FRAU, Desma, and Lunace. Inspired by artists like Nina Simone, Chick Corea, and James Blake, she explores the boundaries between jazz, electronica, and improvisation. In addition to her work as a musician, she also teaches, focusing on nurturing creativity and helping others discover their own musical voice.
