Chido Govera Biography

Committed to reaching out to women and girls through food, Chido enables others to sufficiently provide for their primary needs and concerns as an initial and most important step to engaging them in socio-economic development and to reach their full potential. 

With her work, Chido has built a broad network of both official and community partners in Zimbabwe. She engaged and trained over 5000 households in 10 different regions on integrated food systems. In addition, Chido has extensive training, educational and work experience in other developing countries, including Congo, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania, and South Africa. Chido comes with unique case-based insights and strong opinions on the implications and perceptions, opportunities and challenges of global food- and health policies for local communities. She is a lecturer with international experience and appeal (BBC 100 women – 2020; World Economic Forum - Global Goodwill Champion – 2020; World Economic Forum - Young Global Leader – 2017; Rolling Stone – One of the 25 Persons Shaping the Future – 2017; Yo Dona Award – Best International Humanitarian Work – 2012).
