LABIOMISTA, Genk – After two years of corona, LABIOMISTA, artist Koen Vanmechelen’s evolving work of art, opens for its fourth annual season, once again with a burning topic. At the crossroads of art, society and ecology the park in Genk (Belgium) issues an open invitation to reflect on the meaning of freedom. Does the current context require us to redefine it?
The exhibition 'Seduzione’ (Seduction) opens the 2022 season, starting January 18, 2022: 30 artworks by Koen Vanmechelen dedicated to the themes of evolution and hybridization are installed among the museum's classic masterpieces.
TheMerode is inviting Koen to hold a lecture as part of their enlightening program of events, where local and international speakers, ordinary and extraordinary, can share their unique stories and visions to encourage listeners on their own journey as change makers.
The documentary 'WILD GENE - the art of Koen Vanmechelen' by director Joris Gijsen has been selected for the official competition of BAFF – Brussels Art Film Festival.
Follow in the footsteps of Archimedes and Euclides, and help build our library for the new world, a cabinet of curiosities, a wunderkammer, the library of the future. Of your future. LABIOMISTA, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Universit Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) are looking for 30 young inquisitive people, ages 17 to 27, who are keen to explore the meaning of freedom. Come propelled by your dreams and together with others think about the future of the now in which we live. Come think the Unthinkable.
